What colour?
Posted by DouceRCD on Friday, March 11, 2011 4:01 PM

I'm trying to find the proper coulour for your average sherman tank, or any U.S. WWII armouered vehicle for that matter. I only use Tamiya acrylics so if anyone has a particular mix or a sinle shade that would be helpfull. And while we're on the subject of proper colours what is the poper colour for soviet armour during WWII.

hope you can help, thanks a bunch folks.

Wouldn't it be better to ask this in the Armor section, after all this is about a tank.

Even though it's a paint question you might try posting in the Armor forum. You'll get a ton of answers from those guys. Shermans are generally speaking olive drab and Russian tanks are any shade of medium to dark green. Ask a bunch of modelers and you'll get a bunch of different answers.

How about Tamiya XF62 olive drab ? You could mix in some XF2 flat white for the faded look on the upper surfaces and XF1 flat black to darken it for the undersides of the turret and hull . Mix in small amounts .........the shade shift is sudden .
