Glueing Photoetch parts
Posted by CP Miller on Monday, March 5, 2012 2:12 PM

I'm new to using photoetched parts and having a hard time gluing these parts to the model especially photo's to metal landing gear struts. I've used the super glues and it holds for a while, but after letting this set over night (even thought the glue is to setup within 15 sec.) I try to add more parts to the assemble some the part seem to fall off at the lightest touch.

What am I doing wrong ?

I just ran into the same situation.

After combing search results apparently Future and Krystal Klear works.  I have a spitfire testing Future as we speak so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Try Gator's Grip Hobby Glue. I've been using it for PE and this stuff is great. You can order here:

Great review of Gator Grip here:

CP

I think what is happening is that when you tried to add additional parts the glue softened up the previous glue used. What I do is to #1, use as little as possible and #2, try putting all the parts on at the same time. You can use an accelerator to hurry the drying time after you have the parts in place. I use Zap and it works very well. I use the thin instant and the gel. As I stated the glue softens up the previous used glue.

I hope this helps.
