Hobby Shop locations.
Posted by traveller on Sunday, September 16, 2012 5:32 PM

Gidday to all, could I get advice on the location of Hobby shops in the Toronto and Dallas City area. I will be staying in Irving the day before I go home, and 2 days in Toronto with a full day in Dallas itself. I know of one in Toronto and Irving, could I get any info on others. Also, any good military type bookshop, as I have only got 150 Osprey titles, and need a few more!!! Thanks in advance, this was a snap decision to go and see some family, I only booked 3 weeks ago, and I leave on Oct 7. Normally  I pland 6 months in adavance!!

There are few retail/brick & mortar hobby shops in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.   Most of what we do have are HobbyTowns and Hobby Lobbys.

But you are lucky that you will be in the Irving area,   there are two shops there.    First there is MAL Hobby.  It is a small hole in wall store-front shop that is about half model railroad,  half balsa airplane, and half plastic.  They have a good refernence selection and a mid'lin model selection.   But if Ed Seay Jr is around, ask to see the vault where he has various estate sale collections waiting to get sold.

A couple of miles south of MAL is Wild Bills.   It is a RC shop with one aisle of plastic.   Check it out because there are some gems hidden in the jumbled stacks.   However they price their stuff dearly.

Other than these two and the scattered HT & HL - the folks in DFW tend to order their hobby purchases in
