The Your Discussions list in our profiles, and showing all threads in which we've posted
Posted by the Baron on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 11:38 AM

Is there any word on whether the functionality of Your Discussions will be restored to what it was before the upgrade, to show any threads in which we've posted, and not just those we've started?  I found that functionality to be very useful, as opposed to bookmarking threads or subscribing and getting emails (I get enough email notifications as it is).

Looks like the functionality is restored.  Thanks to the admins and the tech staff!

I have just checked mine and it isn't. Greg saw it fixed last night, then it wasn't. they must be having problems fixing it but are working on it.

Looking closely at the list of threads, it looks like the list shows an entry for each response on those threads, instead of showing the thread once in the list but positioning it in sequence depending on how recently the response was posted.  So for example, this thread is represented twice in my list right now, once each for our responses today.  Still, it's an improvement, in the meantime.

No joy for me either. Not on my iphone, laptop w/IE 10 or whatever the latest MS browser is, nor on the desktop and google chrome... No

Curious what browser you're using, Baron. I'm Firefox 40.0.3 running under Win7Pro.

Greg and Stik,

If you are still having problems with the "Your Discussions" thread I'm not sure what the issue is. It is working on our end and most of the other users are seeing it. You might try logging out and then back in or emptying the cache on your machines. If it is still not working, let me know on Monday and we'll see if there's something else we need to do.

Cheers, Aaron

Thank you for your concern, Aaron, but mine is just fine so far. (except I am getting the multiple listings, which might be by design)

I just tried that on my iPhone. Still no luck. I won't have access to my laptop or desktop until Sunday morning due to work. I'll try it on those devices    sometime on Sunday.

So am I.  The behavior I'm seeing can't be a browser issue, though, in my opinion and based on my experience.  Rather, it seems to me to be an issue with the query logic the page uses to find and return records for display.  I can see that specific browsers and versions may handle displaying records differently, but I'd be very surprised if the browser had an impact on the query logic.

It can also be that I'm misremembering how the page used to work.  I thought that it showed a single entry for each thread we posted in, whether a thread we started or just responded, and it merely moved them up in the sequence, depending on how recently there was a post.

baron, you are correct, that is how it used to work. But we seem to have different results here. For some I get the feeling its working as normal. For others, its only showing threads from 10 months back. For me there has been no change and I have gone back over a year. I have tried everything suggested and a couple of others as well.

Is anyone else still locked out of the Subscriber only content.

FWIW, I just accessed via my Android, using Firefox mobile. Working fine.

Baron,

I also recall a single entry per thread.

Surprisingly, I think I find myself liking the multiple entries. Take a group build, for example. I can go back over a long time period and navigate directly to all of my posts, which I think might come in handy for finding stuff in really long threads.

I hope we get to the bottom of this soon for you guys for whom it's not working.

Bish,

If you can access the last two years worth of model kit reviews, you are able to access the subscriber only content.

If you're looking at the padlock icon on the right side that says Subscriber-only content, and then click here to subscribe, that's just an image saying that to get subscriber only content, you should subscribe. Just an image, nothing more.

Bish,

I just looked at your account. There's definitely something up there. I'll get together with Aaron and the online team Monday and see what we can hammer out. I think Pawel is suffering from a similar glitch. It may be as simple as a line of code is missing for you. Why it's selectively affecting members is an open question. I'll get it sorted.

Hello!

While there's a benefit from many different ways in which the "Your discussions" list works - the original variant after the update, or the way it works now, I think we need a list that answers a question like that: "Is there a recent update in the thread I posted in?"

Even if I posted in a thread a year ago, I want it on top of the list if there's a post in it that's minutes old. And I would like a link to that post, to save some time navigating to it.

Maybe introducing some optionality here would allow more than one way that the list works?

Thanks for reading and have a nice day

Paweł
