When updating my own post, shouldn't it bring it to the top, as the first topic within the particular forum?

As GM says, editing a post wil not send it back to the top of the thread. If it did, it would confuse things as any replies would be out of place.

And as suggested, just leave the old post, it will soon dissapear, or just delete the entry.

A new post will renew interest, a good idea.

You can't delete the older post, although you can erase the content and leave a note.

I never bother, too much brain damage.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I lost mine 18 months ago. I've been collecting funny things of his I find in my own stuff, and have a little altar of sorts set up in my office where I display it all.

That's a good option. However, will I be able to delete my old post first, with it's photos and text, completely? Rephotographing and rewriting a new post for some of my old dioramas might give a renewed interest,

Nope, doesn't work that way. "Edit" keeps the post in place, "Reply" puts you at the end of the line.

A lot of Group Build threads set up an initial post for the announcement, a second post to list participants and their builds as they sign on, and a third to post pictures of completed models.

Those second and third posts get updated a lot. They work best if they stay where they are.

Another thing that'll freeze your post is if it gets quoted in a reply.

When faced with your situation, I've concluded that it's easiest to just put up a new post and call it "the pictures that photobucket stole from me".
