Baron,

When I try to entice someone to build MaK, I throw in “...and they also do very well in contests!”  As you know they have a detail level of armor kits, so when painted and weathered properly, they look incredible.  The Gunpla community has been playing catch up, no doubt influenced by Western forces like Miguel Jimenez, and are starting to produce weathered Gundams that look just as good.

Yeah, definitely in the Sci-fi section.  There are some threads already, if I'm not mistaken.

Gundams have become more popular here in the West over the past few years, and you see them showing up now at general modeling shows, not just specialty shows.  Same goes for Maschinen Krieger, which I build.  We're starting to see more of them on tables at clubs and at general shows, and on general modeling forums and other social media sites.

So, you've got good company!  I look forward to seeing your builds.

And Andrew, don’t be shy!  There are other Gunpla fans in the West - you just don’t see them.  They are mostly hiding from the “scale-only police”.  I know, as I was one of them!  But Gunpla is no different from tanks or airplanes, no matter what some might say.  They use the same materials and methods to finish; look at guys like Miguel Jimenez who feature Gunpla in ther weathering mags.

I got over stigma of being someone who builds “Japanese robots” pretty quickly once I started.  Now I build Gunpla in broad daylight.  Stick out tongue

So fire away with your questions, and please post pics!

I think that the Science Fiction forum would work well for you. I looked on the internet to understand what Gunpla is all about. Those are really cool models.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Oops, didn’t see your post last week!  Like Tojo72 said, the sci-fi section is the best place to post your questions.  We are standing by to assist you!
