Zinio subscription
Posted by Captinyzf on Sunday, April 25, 2021 8:52 AM

Hi folks.

I have had a Zinio subscription for some time. I have just tried to access subscription only content on your website only to be told I am not a subscriber.

But I am.

Do I really have to cancel my Zinio subscription then take out a new one with you then go back to them to access it?

No answer?  I too am in the same position.  I am a new subscriber hoping to get access to older issues through digital means.  Every link that mentions accessing the digital version of the latest issue takes you to the subscribe page.  I don't even know how to get to the older issues.

I checked my order confirmation email from finescale, and it mentions I should receive email correspondence from Zinio with instructions about accessing the digital magazines.  I've been waiting since the January 20th and nothing.  I suppose I am to wait until the newest digital print comes out?  Silly if true.

For now, I've emailed customer support and will report back with any findings.  FYI, the "Frequently asked questions" section of the customer support page takes you to none other than...the subscribe page.  Shake my head, I feel like I'm being pranked.  Not to mention you can't directly email support through the support page.  It returns an error, but thankfully gives an address to use with your own email platform.

I received info from Zinio support that has helped me understand.

Although Zinio delivers your publication on behalf of the publisher, Zinio does not manage 3rd party subscriptions. If Zinio receives a request from the publisher to make a delivery to you - we will do so automatically.
Please note that it can take a publisher up to 4-6 weeks to send us a file including the list of their new digital subscribers. If it has been longer than this allotted period and you still have not received your issue, you will need to contact whomever you purchased the subscription from to ensure that everything is set up correctly, in particular the email address.

So basically when we sign up, our info has to be manually sent to the digital publisher.  Weak.

And all the links to "digital editions" you find around the finescale site just point you to how to sign up, not to actually view your digital publication.

Funny how phone support didn't clue me in to that and told me it was a temporary glitch when it's not.

I hope this helps some poor newbie some time and stress figuring this out the hard way.

I have been a subsriber of the physical magazine for 5 plus years.  Rarely checking the website.  My current May/June issue seems to have been lost in the mail so I decided to check out the "digital" editions but I have no clue how to do it on Zinio.  Should I be contacting FSM's customer service before I can access Zinio? Thanks.

This is what I did.  Once you setup a Zinio account, email Zinio your finescale subscription account number, and they should be able to add the digital content to your library (issues aren't found in my subscriptions page, only the library).

I'd check if you perhaps setup a zinio account in the past and forgotten about it before making a new zinio account.
