Just a question ...
Posted by MusicCity on Sunday, May 9, 2004 10:15 PM
Not a problem, but I figured this was the best place to post a simple question.

Just out of curiosity, when was this community "Born"? The oldest "Joined On" date I've seen is December, 2002. Since there are a bit over 200,000 posts that averages out to a little over 400 posts a day. And, with 34,553 users that averages out to about 69 new users a day (although there was probably a huge influx for the first few months). Not too shaby! You guys do a great job managing it.

Thanks. Smile [:)]

The forums were started Dec 2002. The very first post was made 12/2/2002 about a Diorama of the Nautilus.

In regards to managing it, credit goes to the members of the community. They're a great group of people (very diverse) who don't need very much managing at all. Of course there are times we have to take care of a few who try to spam the boards selling computer parts or what not, but very rare.

Thanks, David. I assumed it was around 12/02 somewhere but that was only the oldest date I have noticed so I wasn't sure.

I've noticed the "Self Policing" attitude myself, and it seems to work very well. To be honest this is one of the best behaved group of people I've run across on a forum. Everyone actually behaves like adults most of the time.

I did notice some spamming last night as well. Some clown posted a message on all of the forums (I think) trying to peddle Dell laptops.

Thanks for the response!
