Searching the forums
Posted by ckfredrickson on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 6:59 PM
I've seen a few comments about the forum search engine being down.

It appears that Google has been caching a number of the FSM forum pages; I'm usually able to find pertinent posts by:

Going to www.google.com
Clicking on "Advanced Search"
Fill out the "Find results" section as appropriate
Go down a few lines and limit domain to www.finescale.com

I won't guarantee it'll give you the post you're looking for, but it's a partial fix.

Happy hunting.

Well, the search is kind of working... Sigh [sigh]

You see, when I "fixed" the search last week and it was finally doing what it was supposed to, I discovered another problem challenge.

I finally had some time to rewrite the database query, which works great, but for some reason, the search terms aren't making it through one of the functions.

So right now, it displays all posts between the dates selected.. Banged Head [banghead]

The good news is the view all posts by a member works...sort of...right now it defaults to all posts within the past 30 days.

Example: posts by ckfredrickson

Aside from all that, anyone remembering what the old search results looked like, what do you all think about this format?

In the meantime...just use the Google page.
