I agree - PLEASE give us this option back. At, ahem, work, I have a T-1 line, so it's annoying but not a problem.

At home, I have dial-up, which on a GOOD day connects me at about 44mbs ... and I have not tried the new forums at home yet, but I know with all these images cluttering up almost ever thread, it's going to be agonizing.

I'll definitely look at including an option to disable signatures and avatars.  Might be a couple days before I can get this done, so please bear with us.

Thanks David.

I think this would be a good feature. I personally don't care, I'm on extreme high speed ADSL and gulp down bandwidth, but others are still on dial up and some of the images, group badges  etc. can slow things to a crawl.

I second you, I find that all the quotes and picture clutter my screen.

No, it does not.

The option for displaying only text in the signatures was a custom hack I did for the old forums.  It's not something I had planned to do again in this forum, at least not until the next version which is a couple months away.

I have been thinking about adding an option to the profile so you can choose if you want to view or not view signatures within the forum.

Being on dialup and not tolerant of excess "noise" when I'm trying to read I prefer to be able to turn off sigline images AND avatars. They add nothing to the topic at hand and simply annoy some people. It's bad enough when some folks have no clue about useful resolutions on web based displays and no courtesy when it comes to dialup or even DSL bandwidth concerns and they post huge image files in the body of their message. I mean really, I could send a 125MB .tif to my FTP and link it to every post I make, it would do nothing but eat up bandwidth since most monitors can't display the whole thing.

So long folks!

The original forum had a profile option to display only text in signatures.  Does this "New and Improved" forum not have that same option?
