copy/paste?!?
Posted by MaxPower on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 9:37 PM
For some reason at this forum I am having troubles using the create link button. I can paste an address in there but it doesn't appear as a link.

My big this is that I can't paste into my reply window. I have been foruming for a long time and this is the first time I've had it where the window to post in is like part of the webpage. Paste doesn't even come up as an option when I right click, only things such as bookmark and save page etc. Most forums I go to use vBulletin which this looks like but the options and what not are seriously lacking in the forum software itself.

Do I have to reach a certain post count for these things or is there a setting I'm missing?

Thanks

For the link thing....  Type a word, highlight it, then click the make a link button.  You can then paste using ctrl+V the URL of the site you are linking to.  As I mentioned, you can paste using Ctrl+V.

Oooohhhh... I didn't make a word for my hyperlink first. Most forum software asks you to enter a word for the link and then the address.

But still though why can't I paste text into the post window?

Right clicking won't work... I know, it's stupid.  You have get the cursor in the text window here, then press Crtl and V at the same time.  Whatever is on your clip board gets pasted.  They use an older code here, so some things aren't like the SA or some of the other forums out there.

I only have a problem when I'm trying to put in a hyperlink when I'm using Firefox, which is what I use most of the time.  Works fine with Internet Explorer, so if I need to paste a link I switch out my browser.

Ahhh ok I need to use my keyboard shortcuts.

I use Firefox exclusively, maybe thats part of my problem.

We need to get the admin to upgrade to the newest vBulletin!!

Maybe we should put one of our emergency rescue contingency plans into action from the last war?
Keep me posted. I'll have others in the "network" get the ball rolling.
