I need a posting editor for the forums!
Posted by results may vary on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 8:21 PM
Any kind of posting editor! What happened to it! I'm getting tired of having to use code just to make a new paragraph or italics. I used to have it, like a month ago or so, and I want it back. I changed nothing on my PC or the version of IE. Just there one day and gone the next. Any FSM people have any idea what happened to it?

You may have not changed anything, but if you have your computer set to download and install updates automatically that might be the cause. If MS has patched something to do with ActiveX controls it may have affected your posting ability.

Usually there is a bar that appears just below the standard toolbars at the top that says something like Internet Explorer has prevented such and such from running an ActiveX control, click here to enable. At least that's my guess, I don't use IE anymore.

However my best advice to you is to go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US and download and install Firefox. You may find that solves your posting problems!

Of course, (snigger, snort) your results may vary!

So long folks!

I have a sneaky suspicion that your problem is related to something Bgrigg mentioned above.  I'd be willing to bet at some point when the little prompt popped up below your IE7 tool bars that you may have inadvertently clicked on the option to not allow the ActiveX script to run, thereby preventing the editing tools from ever popping up again.

If that is in fact the problem, you should be able to go into the IE7 options and delete or edit that setting.  I don't have IE7 at work though, so if I get a chance I'll look where it is when I get home.  It's worth a shot anyway as I think there are one or two other people out there having the same problem you're having.

I use IE7 at home and am having no problems what-so-ever. Confused [%-)]

That's very possible for me. I had a lot of trouble after I downloaded IE7. I couldn't receive email nor could I log on to the internet. I couldn't even use system restore as I usually do when I mess things up on the computer ( technologily challenged here ). I had to go into safe mode and restore. Since this has happened my system has been doing weird things sometimes. I have IE7 at work and it seems fine. Firefox seems to be doing fine so for now I'll just stick with that.
