Dunno Bill, I use IE7 and it loads the first page and all subsequent pages in 1-3 seconds. Have never had a problem with it. And I keep the phishing filter on too. You been monkeying around in you puter againWink [;)]

Sadly, some "legit" sites have been hacked and seeded with phishing bots in the past, so it's a risk I'm not prepared to take. It's just the first page, not subsequent pages that is so slow. I'll have to play about with it more perhaps.

However I'm logged on here with IE7 just to test it!

Now that's what I would like to see in Firefox!

Yo! David!! What's the scoop? Is this a limitation in Firefox, or with the forum software?

So long folks!

I find IE7 a right pain in the asterix. It takes almost a minute before it loads the first page! It's fairly quick after that, but I'm too impatient for the initial load time. I'm told that if I turn off the anti-phishing function it will load as fast as Firefox, but why would I turn off a safety feature?

Sigh, I just can't seem to warm up to it.

The reason why it's so slow for you is because the Microsoft Anti-phishing filter is turned on by default.  If you're even remotely internet savvy you don't need it, I would recommend turning it off.  Otherwise, even sites you frequent, are checked for phishing every time you try to go to them.  That eliminates the load problem.  Smile [:)]

Hmmm, works fine for me.  I use IE7, works great.  I like Firefox too, but I find there are too many websites that don't work properly with it. Black Eye [B)]

That's never worked for me, Scott.

I'll type in an address:

www.finescale.com

I'll paste in an address:

/forums/763326/ShowPost.aspx#763326

Now I'll try to paste, highlight, and use the link button:

/forums/763326/ShowPost.aspx#763326

And what do you know! It now works like it did before! I wonder if this is some weird thing with Firefox? I'm now on version 2.0.0.3.

BTW I've always found that typing in the code ([ url= web address]Unique Title[ /url] is faster than that link button. I've never bothered with the insert image button, either.

actually, you don't even need to use the hyperlink button.  Just type in the web address, and hit the space bar, it should automatically turn it into a hyper link, unless of course you want to put different text in the place of the web address, and still have it be a hyperlink.

Phil_H,

That's what I normally do, but this time it's staying greyed out.

I find the need to paste a link, highlight it, paste the link in the new box and finally entering to be a bizarre ritual, when other sites just let me paste the link directly.

David, any word?

Usually it stays greyed out until you highlight the text you want to use to describe the link.

I just tried to post a link through the "post link" button (the little chain in the top menu of the editor) and it's greyed out. It used to work!

Great, and it's the weekend. David Voss is probably into his second six-pack already! Evil [}:)] Tongue [:P]
