Print Function
Posted by RTimmer on Saturday, December 8, 2007 10:06 AM

Hi All,

I've run into a little annoyance with the "Print" function... If a thread has multiple pages, and I use the print button, the following results:

1.  I get the nice formatted for printing page;

2.  If I'm on the first page of the thread, all is fine, the first page is laid out nicely for printing, but not any of the other pages in the thread; but

3.  If I'm on another page (page 2 or above), I still get only the first page of the thread laid out for printing.

So, the problem seems to be:

a.  only the first page can be print under the formatted for printing function,

b. there is no print all capability

I'm using the latest release version of Mozilla Firefox, so not sure if this a browser related issue or an issue with the forum software.

Any solutions?

Thanks!

This is a problem with the forum software and is equally frustrating with both Firefox & IE7.

Don't know is this going to help but try this

Go to the toolbar click on file, then click print preview, you'll see a a section that says 1 page view, you can use the down arrow on the right to for a drop down.  Click on the page 2 or three page preview.  This show you what the page looks like.  There are also other buttons to do different things such a remove headers and footer, etc.

To print you might be better off to use the file/print, instead of the printer picture on the right.

Good look, as least this is something to try.

Read the fine print.  I dissolve any and all responsibility of the fool hearty that attempt to give advise that may cause smoking, coughing and any other printer hiccups.  Laugh [(-D]

An excellent work around, but at the cost of many more pages. The forum print button condenses the text and suppresses the advertising, for a more economical and cleaner looking result.

Can't help you any more at this time.  I'm on a new computer and don't have a printer for it to do some testing.  Oh well it was a thought.  Its a bummer when not all things are compatible, but I guess thats what keeps people in business.

Once setup you might be able to tell the printer the same way you do in a word processing to  print only the pages you want such as 1,2,5,etc.

Have never tried it that way.

Something else you might consider, if you aren't looking for all the banners and FSM labels:

Go through and copy and paste all the text to a word document. Then print that way

Good luck to ya!

Warmest regards,

Roger
