Marking messages read
Posted by USS-Atlantis on Monday, August 24, 2009 7:19 AM

Okay, minor gripe - but it is anoying

After going through the messages, I'll click "Options" then "Mark all read"

The entire list is marked as read - next day, I come back, and everything - and I mean everything is re-marked as unread

Can we get the forums to remember what we've marked as read?

I never tried the Mark All as Read option before.  I just tried it and everything shows as read.  I'll see what it looks like tomorrow.

Actually, I think I know what is happening.

If you mark all as read, it only affects what you see when you use the Not Read link at the top of the forum pages. If you go into a specific forum, only the topics you have actually read show up as read, the ones you haven't looked at still show up as unread.

If you only hit the Not Read page, you'll be fine.  But if you like to look at specific forum, it won't help you.

The "Not Read" link has NEVER worked for me

Click on it, even the first day I was logged in, and it comes back "No posts found"

Could it be that this forum only likes MS Internet Exploder and doesn't like my trusty Firefox?
