Still slow on Friday.  Can we turn off the green and get another color?

i have to say this but i think you've shot yourself in the foot with the total reworking of the site.

you should have kept the same forum/sub-forum layout but updated the look,at the moment you have to keep going back to "home" to select another.

total reworks very rarely work and i know of several other forums around the world that lost the greater part of their contributors because of badly thought out reworks................

Yeesh - throw me a bone. I apologize for the poorly crafted sentence. We were pretty busy here Tuesday trying to speed up the speed of the site. Smile

I simply meant that the site will begin to work faster.

The new site upgrade is definitely not user friendly.

With all the caterwauling today over the change, I'm wondering where all the friendly users went to?

C'mon people! As Shrek says "Change is good, Donkey!".

So long folks!

Don't worry. The speed of the site will speed up. The transfer over takes some time to warm up.

... The speed of the site will speed up. Hmmm. NOW I fee a whole lot better, as in Kirk hollering down to Scottie, "I need more speed, man!" and Scottie yelling back, "The dilenium crystals, they can't take much more, Captain!" What the heck is she saying, and why the heck should any of us assume she knows what the heck she's talking about, since she can't even type a coherent sentence? And the transfer over takes some time to warm up? Last I checked, my daughter's Easy Bake oven had nothing to do with the FSM forums, but on second thought, this whole makeover seems pretty half baked, so maybe there IS a connection ...

It looks like they have gone with the same format as Scale Auto, as least the site still lets you log in. When SA switched over a lot of people had to start new accounts.

Is anyone else having problems reading the new forum? I can't take more than a few moinutes before my eyes start to hurt.

I agree that this new format is less than desirable. I dislike the entire look, the layout and the colors are awful. Plus, when I try to view any post where a response included a quote, it now reads as total gibberish. I enjoyed spending time here and liked not only the help I received here, but giving help where I could. Now I'm not so sure. A clear case of sometimes new is not always better.....

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Ditto to what Retired Gunpilot wrote. Yesterday, I liked the magazine site. Tonight I saw the forum site and was totally destroyed. Couldn't find anything that I was interested in on the old forum. Have to keep going from page to page. Sorry, but IMHO, the forum is not user friendly any more. I was so pleased with the old forum because it was so easy to use. Everything was right there in front of you. That's why this is the only site that I used. Don't know what I'll do now. Just don't like the new one. Sorry.

On one of the pages, one page was over top of the other and you couldn't read either one.

I have to agree with others, too slow and I don't like the way clicking on images to increase the size actually takes you to the website where the pictures are stored. I also agree the site is not as user friendly as the old site. I tend to believe you actually made the site worse. I think it looks more flully but would prefer less fluff and better userability and speed. Sorry, a nice try but will take some time getting use to in my opinion.

It will take some getting used to and would definitely need to speed up.

New site design is awful.

The new site upgrade is definitely not user friendly. Pages are too slow to load and too cumbersome to use, and the layout looks like a badly pasted-up ransom note. It's far more difficult now to find the items I was interested in than before. There was nothing wrong with the old site. I have a feeling that it was changed only because your graphic designers wanted to show off the latest flashy multi-media design techniques and graphics, not to benefit the readers/users. As a copy/layout editor and occasional web site designer myself, I know that in most cases the simplest approach works best for conveying information to a large readership with a broad range of interests.

I won't be returning to the site as often now as I did before you "improved" it, and I think a good many others will feel the same as I do.

I'm OK with the layout but for me, in Connecticut, anyway, the forum response time is very slow.

... page updates need to be timed with a calendar.    Less ease of movement between pages & topics
