JTilley:  You are correct with this error.  I am having the same problem.  I have not been on this forum for months.  Now I back and wanted to see some of my older posts and responses, there is none to be found.  I get a "0 matches found" when in my conversation box I have a few from the theads I started.  I hope someone can direct us to them and fix this problem with the more search options button.

Accessibility of older threads

Maybe the forum administrators are already aware of what I'm about to mention; if so, I apologize for taking up cyberspace.

There's been a good deal of discussion about the availability of older threads on the new platform.  We've established that there is - supposedly - a way to get access to them, by clicking on "Sort and Filter," then on "Show All," then on "Apply and Save."  Apparently that works fine for some users (see the post from Tuchase at the end of this thread, for instance: /forums/t/123289.aspx ).  But not for others.  I've followed all those instructions (several times, as a matter of fact, and still can't seem to get access to anything posted before October, 2009.

I'm not sufficiently computer-literate to offer a theory about this.  But I do hope something can be done about it.  One of the most valuable things about this forum is its function as a data base of information (and opinions) stretching back quite a few years.  Surely it can't be the case that some individual computers (mine is an HP, about three years old) can gain access to the pre-2009 stuff and some can't.

If I'm making some sort of stupid mistake (a distinct possibility), could somebody suggest what it might be?

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.
