Site problems?
Posted by Gordon D. King on Friday, February 12, 2010 9:56 AM

I am usually logged in all the time to FSM.  This morning I was and couldn't log in. I received a message that the site was down. Did anyone else have this problem?

I had a brief problem about 4 hours or so ago, got logged out while posting a message and then when I tried to log back in, I got the "Down for maintenance" (or similar) message. Tried again about 20 minutes later and logged in ok.

We haven't had any problems here this morning. Let us know if you have any more problems.

Cheers, Aaron

I appreciate the advances that have been made but there's still problems to sort out. I'm usually here in the middle of the nite so maybe these things don't show up as much during the day for y'all to see them first hand.  It's as though the place gets lost. I can go through several pages or threads and everything will be just fine and then the pages will start loading slowly. May go back to working fine for a few minutes and then it will just get stuck trying to load and won't do a thing. Come back a half hour later and it's working ok again. Around 03:00EST last nite the site stopped working altogether for me. I left and came back several times and somewhere around 04:30 it started working again but I had to log back in. This happens a lot. It doesn't time out or give any server errors, just keeps trying to load.

Tonite I clicked on an imbedded youtube video in the aircraft forum and some strange things happened. The autoplay dialog box popped up on my desktop and I couldn't close it. Gave it the 3 finger salute and when it did shut down it also shut down my antivirus and rearranged all the icons in the system tray. Thought I had been zapped there for a minute but Norton restarted ok and there doesn't seem to be any problems now.

The site also acts very differently between IE8 and the latest Firefox. With IE everything is still shifted to the left, has larger text and doesn't downsize/resize some images. With Firefox text is very small and the page is centered. But recently every time I use Firefox I have to login again, it won't keep me logged in. And sometimes when I can't get in with IE the site seems to work fine with Firefox.

It's better than after the changeover but don't stop working on it just yet. Yes

the site is a constant  problem. I see very few problems being fixed, and the only reason it got faster was because half the regulars left. I'd suggest you switch to something better before the other half leaves

really getting tired of hitting the back arrow only for the website to dissappear. Probably the single hardest website I've ever been on to move around on.

I certainly haven't experienced that problem, Gary. Back button works fine for me.

Out of curiosity, what browser and version are you using?

So long folks!

I'm working off a DSL using Internet Explorer. I get the same results with strait up Yahoo or AOL. It seems like it'll work fine for a couple days, and then goes haywire.
