Hi guys,

Just to let you know, the bug with searching "P-51" on the website has been fixed. There was a software update earlier this year, and it seems that it affected certain search parameters. Typing P-51 will now bring up any searchable mention of that term on the site. However, the more specific you are, the better your search will be, for instance, P-51B.

You might notice in searches that you'll get some returns that simply say "Published." That's another problem we're working on. They represent either articles that have expired and are no long available or are not yet published but slated to be. The system recognizes the search terms in these articles and displays them, while the software is telling it not to. So, there is a patch coming to fix this peculiarity.

Thanks,

TK

 Jon_a_its:

Nomclementure doesn't usually include dashes, eg M1, M48, P51 etc

so I did a search for P51, & .... nada.... Hmm

maybe you broke it? Surprise

Actually USAAC, USAAF, and USAF aircraft nomenclature usually includes the dashes. The US Army ground vehicle stuff does not. A Mustang in the P-51. And an Abrams is the M1.

Good point...in the USAF the F-117 is an aircraft while the F117 is the C-17 engine. Same with the F-100 (Aircraft)  and the F100 (Engine)

I just did a "Search our Community" search on "p-51" and it came back with thousands of hits.  I also searched "p 51" and "p51" and they also came up with thousands of hits.  Different hits.  Looks like you need to search on all possible ways to write P-51 to find everything.  Fortunately, it isn't case sensitive, that would be even more of a pain.

One searches the website, the other searches the forum. They each use a different engine because they are different platforms.

We're looking into why P-51 didn't come up with a search result. It should have, since there are numerous articles on the website about or mentioning P-51s. Doing a search for Mustang reveals many. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Why not delete that since it DOESN't work, and replace it with the green one??!!!!!!

Thanks guys

Hi Doc,

When you use the Search our Community field, make sure you change the drop-down dialog box to search "Entire Community." It's default is to search your own posts. I just searched P-51 and came up with 3,756 items.

Best,

TK
