Can't post photos
Posted by jeaton01 on Sunday, July 29, 2012 12:12 AM

I've read all the FAQ's and the posts in this section and followed the procedures there, and still have had no luck.  I have been posting photos for years on the forum but since the last update I can't do it anymore.  I have my photos on my own website but that is the way it has always been.

When I do a post the pictures appear in the preview, but when I finish the post they do not appear.  When I go back to edit the code for my photos is replaced by a broken image link icon.

Would like some help from the staff to sort this out.

John

Have you tried under the "use rich formatting" post/reply format?

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I can`t post pictures either. I use Photobucket and used to just copy the direct link under the pic and insert that in the usual way into the post. I`ve been trying different things and nothing is working. One pic did post but in the video option...when I tried it again, it didn`t work. Originally, it looked like all my pics went in but when I checked the post, only the 1st pic actually posted, the one I used the video option for ??? HELP!

John,

Sorry for the problems. If you can, send me a link to the photo in question. I suspect, because you are trying to post a picture from your website, that the problem has to do with the link code. If there is a tilde (~) in the address, it won't work at present. We are waiting for a fix for the glitch from the software vendor.

Cheers, Aaron

Hi,

Can you tell me if your links have a ~ in them? If yes, then that's probably why you're getting broken links. There is a patch coming from the Telligent (the vendor for the Forum software) for this particular error.

We'll let you know as soon as the patch is installed.

Thanks,

TK

Len,

I'm not sure of the problem. Can you send me a link to the picture you are trying to post? I may be able to work it out.

Cheers, Aaron

Yes, Aaron, that's the problem.  The website provider uses that to truncate the address.  I'll check once in a while to see when the fix comes.

Thanks

Aaron,

Here`s one of the links that will only post in the "Insert Video" window....

I`m working with an eight year old laptop at the moment and have a new one on the way. That said, I never had a problem with the old format posting pictures using the "direct link" option with Photobucket. I`m not complaining...just saying....Big Smile

Thanks ,

Len

Well, since that was posted, I got a new laptop. I still had trouble at first using the "insert image" option..pics just would not post...unless I used the "insert video " option, then they would show up. Anyway, things seem to be working almost as it used to now. My new issue is when posting pics and adding the text, the text just goes where it wants to. I know how to enter "captions" between my pics, just sometimes the text goes wherever or is chopped up between several pics. Then, it`ll "lock up", won`t let me type anymore or start a new paragraph by hitting "enter"...just get a little "gunk" sound, like I just did somethin` wrong..lol. Anyway, doesn`t happen all the time..trying to notice when it does tho`...

Hi,

I just had the same issue.  I just posted in the "GRUMMAN IRON WORKS" GB.  Can I go back and edit.  Sorry, I have posted pics before here and did it the same way I have done in the past, but I did not use the "rich formatting"

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat... I've tried Flickr & Photobucket, neither want to work, and sometimes the link will even disappear.
