Deleted post causing subesequent posts not to display
Posted by the Baron on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 11:49 AM

Hi,

I noticed in Chukw's ongoing build blog in the Airplanes forum:

http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/p/134417/1616477.aspx#1616477,

that when I click the Latest Post link from the subforum list, or from My Discussions, I'm taken to a page that shows the thread title, and has the New Post button enabled, but is missing the thread content.

There was a post that I think was deleted, and it makes me wonder if this is causing problems with the posts downstream.

In any case, the most recent content isn't loading correctly.

I'm running IE9 on Win7, by the way.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Brad,

You're probably encountering slight glitch. At the top of the page click the Ju 388 Planet Models 1/48 resin link. You should see the thread reload. Or you might try refreshing the page. That glitch can happen sometimes in IE, although I haven't seen or heard of it in Chrome or Firefox.

Our guys know about it and I think there is a patch on the way.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks, Tim!  I did get to the last page by navigating in from the first page.  I had tried refreshing, too, but that didn't work.  But as long as the staff know about it, that's fine.

I work in IT, too, and I know how much fun things can be.

Thanks,

Brad

Actually, it only happens for me with Chuck's thread.  I've had no problems accessing any other thread from the "latest post" link, so far.  I do suspect that it has to do with posts that have been deleted, because as far as I can tell, the other threads that I visit haven't had any deleted, and it looks like some were from Chuck's.

Hey Baron,

I've actually had the issue on a couple of other threads. The guys haven't gotten back yet with a solution, but I suspect that there's a letter or carrot missing from a string of code that's hanging us up.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks, Tim, I think you're probably right, and pzl66's post is another good indicator that it's in the code, not the browser.  Reminds me of when I drop a bracket here or there in a page.

And to the rest of you clowns, well...wise guys!  Big Smile
