did know that existed. these boards are layed out very differently than what I am used to.

This is not an error, but a convenience issue.  The "mark as read" function is a long ways down the page on the right sidebar.  On forums with only a few threads, one has to scroll down past a lot of blank space to get to it.  I doubt if I am the only one to use the mark-as-read function.  To me it should be placed much closer to the top of the page.
