Just upgraded to windows 8.1 and can't log-in to account.
I enter my details press return or cluck login button and it just reloads page or if done on the right-hand side on the forum side it says FSM site search results 0
Hi Konigwolf,
From your description, it sounds like you're typing your login into the search field rather than the login field. Can you give it another try. We're running the latest IE and can't replicate you're error.
Thanks,
Tim

Well thanks for the um vote of confidence in my intelligence, Yes i know the difference between the search and login area's. The biggest difference would be you havn't added a password option on the search function have your? AND since I am able to login via google chrome (but still cant via Windows 8.1 Internet Explorer) I was just trying to point out an issue with your site NOT asking for an insult.
While your are running the latest IE are your also running windows 8.1?
Konigwolf,
I'm sorry you felt insulted and apologize for making you feel that way. In the past, we've had users confuse the fields, not because they're stupid, but simply because the fields are close together. I've accidentally done it, as have others here in the office.
You make a good point: I didn't take Windows 8.1 into account with our initial discussion. Upon further investigation, the way that Windows 8.1 communicates with the Forum using IE 11 is substantially different from previous versions, for obvious reasons. In any case, you should be able to go to the top of your browser and click the compatibility mode icon. That should allow you to interface with the Forum normally.
I hope this works for you.
If not, please send me a private message and we'll work on it further.
OK I admit I probably over reacted some but the fact I was able to log in via another browser and was producing two different error results should of tweaked it was more than logging on via wrong field entry.
Also IE11 (under win 8.1 at least) has no compatibility icon, I was able to find a compatibility option via the tools icon- Compatibility View settings option (also available from the menu bar if its turned on), this worked after two attempts (First just sat there and thought until closing tab)- So working at the moment with compatibility mode
Tim, In a roundabout way you have just helped me out with this one.
I tried to get on the site on Sunday, but it would load the forum. I could get on the site main page, but nothing else. I run Windows 7 and had had an update when I turned off on sat night and that's the only thing I can think of. I came on tonight and was trying to use my other half's ipad so I logged off on my lap top, and suddenly I found I could get back on the forum, but I couldn't log in, I was having the same response as Konigwolf.
Anyway, I did what you suggested and now it works. Not sure if anyone else is having the same problem with Window's 7, I have had issue's with their up dates in the past. But now I know what to do next time, thanks.

I can't log on with Windows 7. Downloaded Firefox and it is fine but why W7 doesn't work?

Yep, my W7 laptop upgraded to IE11 overnight and wouldn't log into the forum.
Use the "Compatibility view" method described above. It will appear to wait after you hit the "login" button. Click on a page link within the forum and it should open with your account logged in.
Thanks for this information, everyone. I couldn't access the forum all day today because the dumb, stupid, willful, self-centered, selfish, psychotic computer uploaded itself last night.
I used my daughter's computer, got on the forum, found this thread and the answer, so now things are back to normal.

Same problem here-Firefox on....IE off....life is good....again...
Happy Thanksgiving all.

I had the same problem so I called customer service and the nice lady helped me out. It was a compatibility issue with Explorer 11.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron laptop running Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.16518, and have no issues at all logging in to FineScale. I can peruse all pages of the website with no issues. Replies to posts also work normally. I can't recall ever having an issue with this, and I've had the laptop for right at a year now. If anyone that still has problems wants to, send me a PM, and I can send you the settings that my system has in Internet Explorer to see if that will help.

Build one at a time? Hah! That'll be the day!!
My take on Windows 8. I absolutely HATE Windows 8! The WORSE piece of crap of an OS ever!! Microsoft dropped the ball on this one especially putting them on PCs.They don't belong on PCs. They're fine for laptops but PCs? The biggest mistake by Microsoft.
Don't get me wrong, I'm fairly literate when it comes to PCs and I'm on my 3rd one. In the past, I've had Windows Me (Loved it!), my second one had Vista Ultimate -IMO it's one of the BEST operating systems I've had and never once had problems with it. I never did like Windows XP because it's Vista in disguise.
Windows 8? HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!!!!!!

Dawg, thanks for the offer, but man, I'm as stubborn as they come and needed to figure this one on my own. I was finally able to work out my issue with the reply box - had to do with the Compatibility View setting. Everything's up to snuff now, but again, thanks for your offer to help.

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?
Hey, anytime, Rudd! Glad you got it figured out. I know what some of the guys here are going through, and a few times someone has been kind enough to help me figure out the settings that I had set incorrectly in other computerized software & hardware (and almost always, that's all it is.....). Gotta pay it forward!!
