Annoying problem after posting photos in a thread
Posted by murph on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 9:08 AM

I just started a thread (Aircraft section) and posted a number of photos to the thread from Photobucket.  Prior to this, in previous posts in other threads, I would have the same problem after posting a photo.  I know others have the same problem too.

After I entered the text about my build, I inserted my photos in the appropriate spots.  After submitting the thread, all the text after my first photo through to the end of the post, is underlined and the text colour is blue.  In effect, the text is a hyperlink that takes you to my Photbucket account.  I have followed the instruction on how to post photos but this problem persists.  Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem on the site?

I'm not very computer literate so please be gentle in your explanations.

Thanks.

Mike

Hey murph,

I had the same problem, but Bish set me straight. I will do my best to explain.

1. In photobucket, when you click to share the picture, you have 4 options: Email & IM, Direct, HTML, and IMG. Pick the Direct option.

2. In the area where you write your text for a post, you'll see icons. One along the bottom looks like a small mountain range. Click that Icon.

3. Once the icon opens to a new dialog box, paste your link from photobucket in the Source section. Image Discription is optional and I have been using 500 X 500 in the dimensions. Leave the Constrained box checked. that will change your picture accordingly if it is not square.

Hope this helps, if not, I'll see if I can create some pictures.

OK, I figured I would add pictures, this is how I add picture to a post and not get the annoying hyperlink lines:

1. Login to photobucket (I only use Photobucket, however, this may change soon) and       share the picture:

2. You have 4 options to share: Email & IM, Direct, HTML, and IMG. Pick Direct.

3. Go back to FSM and reply to the post or create a new thread. Click on the icon that looks like a mountain range:

4. Once the icon opens to a new dialog box, paste your link from photobucket in the Source section. Image Discription is optional and I have been using 500 X 500 in the dimensions. Actually I changed the dimensions for the picture in this example to 500 X 350. You'll need to experiment with these setting to see what you like.

5. Click ok, and you will see the picture in the post.

Keep adding more pictures as you like.

Hope this helps!

Bruce,

Thanks very much for this.  I really appreciate it.  You see?!  Apparently you can teach an old dog a new trick.

Woof!

That's not the problem - it's when you link a photo that isn't using the correct IMG code that underlines your photo links. I know it did that to me not just underlining the photo, but the words that I put into the post after it were all underlined in blue, and the picture was 500 X 500 and not huge like they used to be when I first joined this site SIX YEARS ago despite the wrong join date under my name. I had to go back into the post, and delete all the words after the link, and repost them to get it to change to the regular posting style. All these things happened after finescale went to the new posting style that they have now. No real explanation for it really.

Maybe a picture of a squirrel playing a harmonica will make you feel better?

Hey Murph -

I am glad you got this issue resolved. I also followed the same tip and continued to have problems. Steve(modelcrazy) turned me onto Image Shack and it is far more easier and really user friendly. Just thought I would tell you that way you have other choices. Take care Murph.

I am also having this issue. I tried the suggested fix and encountered a different problem. When I click on 'Share' I don't get the 'Direct' option, only the 'IMG'.

I just started a new thread and have a bunch of paragraphs all linking to the pictures.

SS,

I just pulled this image from your photobucket account:

I could see the Direct option.

SS,

You can also double click on your picture, when it opens, to the right you should see the four options. Send me a message if you are still having issues.

Message sent. Very strange that you can see all four options in my account but I can only see the one.

I don't know either. I've tried changing the compatability settings for both FSM and PhotoBucket, with no luck. Hogfanfs offered to help me privately, but now for some reason I can't even do that. I hit 'Reply' in the PM page and nothing happens.

Okay, now it gets really weird. I saw someone mention re-typing the blue parts, and decided I would try that. I went into my thread and there was no option to reply or edit the post! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to add my next update, let alone try to fix the problem.  Boo Hoo
