Easier Photo Posting
Posted by warshipguy on Sunday, January 14, 2018 8:18 PM

To whom it may concern,

Can FSM upgrade its site to enable direct posting from our own files without going through a third-party photo service.  Other modeling sites allow this, thereby making it much easier and less cumbersome for contributors to post photos.  The system used by FSM is too complex.

Thank you!

I use Postimage. It's free and very easy to use.

Bill - you're right, it is too complicated for many people. But at the same time it's much cheaper to Kalmbach company - they don't have to use so much hard disk space on their servers. So I think this will stay with us for a while... :-( Have a nice day

Not all forums allow uploading images as files in posts.  As Pawel mentions, it is a cost in terms of storage space.  Uploaded files have to be stored somewhere on the server.  Linked images do not generate this cost to the forum.

I have to disagree with you, though, that it's too complex to use a third-party host to store and link your images.  I find it much simpler to do this, than to have to resize and otherwise process my photos to meet the file and image size requirements of the various forums I belong to.
