My Computer or Your Server?
Posted by greghile on Saturday, April 21, 2018 11:58 AM

Whatever it is, I like it! I have noticed over the last week or so that the FSM website, and especially the Community Forum pages, are loading so much faster than before. Anyone else notice the difference?

I don't know, but I've always had a problem with the forum hiccuping on me. If I write a lengthy post, it will almost always fault out and nothing I wrote is posted or even saved. I've gotten into the habit of posting a partial response and then editing that response with more information. I also try to remember to "copy" all text I just wrote before hitting submit so I can paste it in a new post if the original one disappears.

Yes good advice. My windows has an update that I'm not used to yet with a lot of drag and drop that opens and closes windows when I'd rather it didn't.

I think it was you Rob who made a good suggestion- type in Word and then cut and paste into FSM. Also helps with spell check.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I haven't had any real problems with hiccups on this site but I have with others, especially a local news site here in Northern California and I use either of the processes you two mentioned. For me, it has simply been the speed in loading the forum -- and not even anything else on the site -- and the forum had been working fine once it was initially loaded. Anyways, I'm a happier camper whatever it was!

That is my issue too. It seems to have improved a few weeks back (as suggested by the OP), but it's back to normal which to me is unacceptable).

I'm not pointing fingers as like the OP, I feel it is possible that it's something at my end, though that does seem doubtful.

I never had issues with the site running slow or anything.
