I've learned to highlight my post with my mouse, copy it with a right click and then hit "submit your reply". That way, if the site hiccups, I can paste the copied text into a new post and try again.
Sometimes, if I type out a more involved response, I'll actually type it in an email and use the spell check and formatting then copy/paste into the forum response.
