Count me in on this one, too.  I had the URL for "Active" topics on my IE favorites list, and could immediately scan my choices of category, namely Aircraft and Group Builds, paging over what I wasn't interested in.  Now it's so much hash.  I support the others here who find this a serious omission.

Other than that, re-registration seemed to go okay, and my name wasn't lost, so I can still get in and find stuff.

Regards

Dick

I would also like to lend my support to this request...it was an option I used regularly.  Overall though- I am happy with the changes and felt the registration process was not nearly so rough as some people thought... we live in an age of fast food and cell phones and the NOW generation....nice to see some people have to slow down a bit Big Smile [:D]

Oh Yes...just what I came here to say...Please,pretty please put the "Posts since last visit" back the way it was.It was a handy tool to catch up on what I had missed without trawling through everything..Definitely a step backwards now.

Also the code thing...I have bought FSM for years through my hobby shop in the UK and now here in Warsaw but while the UK times where around the first week of the month.here in Poland it is the end of the month:( I am still waiting for Novembers issue..So codes are a bit of a niggle.

or at least a way of marking messages as read? instead of pages and pages of unread messages?

Most "free" or open source forum apps seem to be better equipped, I know it's still early days for the change over, but so far it seems very clumsy and awkward to use guys. That's not to take away the hard work, I know, I do it on sites all the time for people.

The issue with "new posts" not being sorted by heading is a problem, not sure about others here, but I don't have the time to trawl through them all, looking for the ones I'm interested in.

I agree that the way "posts since your last visit" used to be presented was very convenient - if there's setting you could change or something that's not-to-difficult, it would be a nice feature to have here too...

But other than that, so far so good...

It's also pretty slow compared to the old site, with all the re-registration and cross transfer of post name, I can imagine the SQL is pretty big now! Will this stay this slow or will you tril the DB as people settle in?

My first thought was "I don't like it", but it will grow on me, I know that.

As for the important feedback I wish to share: In the old forum, when you viewed the posts since your last visit, they were presented in a clear, organized fashion, separated into the different sections, like Aircraft, Armor, etc. I went to check out the same thing today, it was definately a "Charlie Foxtrot". I think the posts may have been arranged by date/time, but I'm not sure. However they were arranged, it ended up giving me something like 50 pages and 699 posts to search through, not in order of sections.

Is there a way to change this back to the "old way"? It is going to get really tiresome searching through 699 posts in no particular order. I don't want to be one of those "back in my day..." or "in the other forum...." guys at all, I'm suggesting this as a way for everyone to not sit for hours searching for the post they want to read.

Thanks for hearing me, I know it's early in the adjustment phase, but I hadn't seen anyone else bring this up. Good luck with it, FSM staff, you're doing great so far.
