I couldn't do a "cut" and "paste" the other day
Posted by djrost_2000 on Friday, November 18, 2005 8:00 PM
I tried doing a "cut" and "paste" of a website to be added to a post.  Of course the "cut" went fine, but when I tried to paste to my post I got a strange menu when I right-clicked the mouse to do the "paste" function.  Basically I was unable to paste what I cut due to a different menu when I right-clicked.  Is there a new way of doing this?

What kind of computer, OS and browser are you using?

Sounds to me like you are getting two different context menus (the right mouse button calls up a menu that has context within that software). Try ctrl-c to cut and ctrl-v to paste and see if that works. There are very few things a mouse can do that a keyboard can't.

I've just tried a cut and paste from a phpbb forum to here and it won't let me use the mouse. The keyboard shortcuts above worked.

So long folks!

wierd I just tried copying part of your post Bill then pasting it into this message and it wouldnt let me.. although I have copied and pasted in the last few days and it worked fine.. although the CTRL-C/CTRL-V thing is my usual route so I probably did that....

well I just tried the CTRL-V after copying your post and:

it works... so the menu is different when you do it here... Good thing I was raised on DOS and UNIX!  who needs a mouse????

Gamers do, and people who don't want to go tab tab tab tab tab until they get to the link they want to open. I'm a DOS geezer myself and do many things with the keyboard. Including image tags and formatting in this forum!

I do the image tags too but still can't seem to post pics. I'm gonna take another shot at it.

True, we can use the keyboard to do a cut and paste, or so it has been reported here (I can't get ANY method to work) but I thought the whole idea of this new forum was it was going to be easier?

I'm not seeing that.
