Problems related to IE 7 ?

I'm having the same problems with IE7.  The buttons for changing font, font size, smiley's etc don't appear at all on the screen.  If I use Firefox, it's fine so it must be an issue with IE7.

Also, as was mentioned above I can no longer past the image links from photobucket using IE7, but if I switch out to Firefox it's fine.

Is there anything we need to change in the options for IE7?  Or are there some incompatibilities now on the forums when using the new browser?

Yes, there are some settings you can change...

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and delete IE7. Then go to www.mozilla.com and download Firefox and make that the default browser.

Okay, you can't easily remove IE7, but it IS a less than optimal browser. Firefox is it's superior in so many ways. However you cannot access Microsoft's Update site without IE 5.5 or better so we are forced to keep a shoddy product on our computers.

IE has long been a non-standard browser and has issues with many websites, especially ones built using products that aren't Microsoft.

Why not Format C:  and instal Linux.

Sadly enough, it's not that easy. Last week I had to use a boot up/rescue disc for a Microsoft pc. I must admit, the boot software was Win XP. However, the browser on this cd was Mozilla’s Firefox. Well, let me tell you that much to my surprise (I'm probably fairly naive ) none of the virus definitions could be downloaded because all the websites insisted on dealing at least with MS IE 5. So, you're practically forced to use this MS software, whether you like it, or not  

But that doesn't help us here with the nr 7 issue, does it?

The way I deal with this problem? I'm using 2 computers. Only installed IE7 on one, and I'm posting on the other one. I know, it's not the cheapest way to deal with the problem, but hey, we Belgians are considered to be dumbo’s, so at least I have an excuse

B.t.w., I understand that IE7 could be very easily removed, and the IE6 version would stay in place. I must say, I didn't try that one (yet!).

I had the same problem with the Beta version of IE7 when I downloaded it a few months ago, and the Alpha version isn't any better. The reason is most of the HTML webpage script was written with IE6 in mind, and it just doesn't work with 7.

I may or may not uninstall IE7 and go back to my good 'ole IE6 (of course, I've been saying the same thing about XP and going back to 98SE!).

I'm wondering if IE-7 was written specifically for the newer 64-bit processors and our " older " 32's are struggling because of it.  It was just strange that basic embedded links would not activate on any site I went to.  This site, Scale Auto site, Ancestry.com, etc.--" 7 " just would not " recognize " them.  That was the MAJOR problem, but I also hated the auto tabbing as you go from site to site.  That's the main reason I'm thinking it was aimed at the 64-bit systems and high-speed connection users.  I have high-speed DSL, and the speed of download was not too bad, but, man, I bet the folks still struggling with dial-up catch pure h***.   I'm just fat and happy with my "6" and have no plans in the foreseeable future to step-up to a 64-bit system.  My little 2gHz, 32-bit processer backed with 1gb of RAM suits me just fine. 

I upgraded the kids (both with P4 1.7Ghz processors) and my wifes laptop (3 Ghz processor) and they all run IE7 just fine.  I wonder what's causing troubles for some of you out there. 

Might want to check your security settings, and keep an eye out for a pop up line that appears at the top of the browser that asks you if you want to run ActiveX scripts etc, and be sure to tell the browser it's ok to run them.  If you say no, then that obviously would also cause the problem.  (not saying that's what's going on, but I'm just throwing ideas out there )
