Roony,

When in Photobucket, click on the picture you want to post to enlarge it. When you do, a sidebar will appear just to the right of the picture; there are several choices. Click on 'direct link' a message will appear stating 'copied'. Go back to the forum and click on the little 'insert picture' icon (rich formatting), a box will appear and paste what was copied from Photobucket into the space requesting the url. Click 'insert'. Picture should show in your planned post, then when ready, just click 'Post'. HTH

  1. This works best if you open 2 windows: 1 in FSM and 1 in Imageshack, Photobucket, Dropbox, et al. Go to the photo site window and highlight and copy the “Direct Link” address. Go to the FSM widow containing your unfinished post. Go to the menu bar above your post, the icon that looks like a cellphone, the 2nd tier of the message control bar, the ELEVENTH icon  It says ‘Insert Media’… CLICK IT. Paste the Direct Link address into the appropriate space. Then hit insert.
  2. Wait for the FSM site to show the photo, etc. etc.

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

I think its at photobucket that I'm not setting it up right.   I'll keep working at it there.

Hey roony, maybe try what I do. Enlarge image in Photobucket. Right click, then click on copy. go to your post and right click and then click on paste. That's right, just a simple copy and paste. I've ben using this method ever since I joined FSM.

You need to insert the web address (URL).  If direct copying (which computer operating system do you use?) does not work, try copying down the Photobucket URL for that picture and copying it into the window by keyboard typing. If that works, you can try to find out why the shortcut copying doesn't.

Roony, try this instead:

1.  In Photobucket, click the gear icon on any image in the library (album) that contains your picture

2.  Choose the Get Links option that will appear in the menu

3.  A popup will open, with 4 different links.  Choose the 4th one, the one at the bottom, by clicking in it.  You will see the textbox for that choice turn color and the word "Copied" will appear

4.  In the post in your destination, like here at FSM or in any other forum, click to put your cursor in your post, and rightclick and choose Paste, or type Ctrl-V, to paste the text you've copied from Photobucket into your post

5.  When you save your post, the website will retrieve the image from Photobucket and display it for anyone reading it.  The line of text you copied is a URL for the image, and it's identified to the website with the "image" tags--"img" and "/img"  That's how the webpage knows that it's dealing with an image, and the text between the tags is its location in the Web

Personally, I prefer to see the images in the threads I read, rather than clicking links to go elsewhere to view them.

I apologize if this is written in too basic a format, I don't know how familiar you are with the terminology.  But I hope this helps!

Roony,

In some way you're getting the incorrect URL (link) to post your picture. When I track your link backwards, this is what I get:

http://s1336/photocucket.com/user/???????/story/67371

This is an invalid link to any site and simply goes to a search bot. The ???? were added by me to replace a name in case it isn't yours or you didn't want it posted.

Notice Photobucket is misspelled (highlighted in red) but even correcting that doesn't help. I notice the word 'story' in my back search of your URL which suggests you're trying to post from a story. Know nothing about posting a story  but if you want to post a pic, simply place it in an album** and post the direct link. I know you can create s 'story' on photobucket but don't know how or if you can post a single photo from there.

** Edit or in your Library as I do.

Strange...

With the 'new and improved' Photobucket, when I copy the IMG code and paste into the reply box and then send, the photo doesn't show up.  The reply only posts the hyperlink to the photo and the entire photo album.

If I use the edit feature on the original post, repaste the link and resend, the actual photo appears.

Bizarre.

My first photo are Sabres attached to the three Squadrons of 2 Wing, RCAF, Grostenquin, France in the 50's and 60's.  416 'Lynx' Sqn is on the left, 421 'Red Indian' is in the middle and 430 'Silver Falcon' is on the right.

The second photo is the bronze caribou at Beaumont-Hamel, France, where the Royal Newfoundland Regiment was all but completely eliminated on 01 July 1916.  Over 90% of the Regiment were killed, wounded or MIA within a few hours of the start of the attack.

I'm finding, at least with Shutterfly photos, to just simply copy and paste from my individual shutterfly album pics ..... like this:

My last couple of posts, using Photobucket content, didn't work as expected.  I copied the links I always use, to display the image in a post, but on saving, FSM rendered them as links.  I found that when I edited my post, and pasted the image URL in a second time, on saving, FSM rendered them as images.  I have not had this issue with any other forum I belong to, so I suspect that FSM's pages handle the Photobucket URL content differently now.

I cant get photobucket to work with this site at all. Bummer cuz I created my photobucket account just for posting pics here. Oh well, their loss. I dumped them.

My Shutterfly works swimmingly for posting pics in the forums here. Using Google Chrome, I right click on photos in Shutterfly and choose "Copy Image". Then, in a forum post, right click at the spot  where I want the pic, choose "paste" and zap . . . . there's the pic. No problems using Shutterfly.
