Est.1961

I see a string of icons that represent a broken or failed image link, each followed by "alt=""/>"

I think you grabbed the wrong link to use.  I also use Postimage, and I use the link, "Hotlink for forums":

This link works without any editing on every other forum I belong to, except this one.  For FSM's forum, I strip off the URL tags from the start and end of the link.  When I remove those, the link string starts with the image tags, "img".  If I don't edit the link that way, the forum's software will render any text I enter after the image in boldface.  Not a major issue, just looks funny, and the forum's software should be able to handle the link as is.

On my laptop when I submitted I could see my image with my reply but not before. Checked in on my phone and no image and my sentence was  corrupted. Imgur uses a BB code that I had no problem with in the past.

Sure thing, glad to help, if it does in any way.

I started out in IT as an application support resource, then moved to quality assurance-testing.  So I enjoy looking at puzzles like this.

I still see the "alt" tags, by the way:

I don't know if you do, too, or anyone else.  It may be, too, that the forum doesn't handle the logic in the link you have.  And that may very well be through nothing you've done.  It may be that there were changes, such as upgrades, or other changes, to the pages or some other components of the site. And that may have caused an issue, too.  Integrating changes into a functioning application is always a little tricky.

I do see the model chassis, though, too.

Hope that helps!  Might just have to keep playing with it.

FWIW, I use Postimage as well. I just copy the 'direct link,' then hit the 'Insert/edit image' button here (the picture with mountain icon) and paste it into the 'source' line. Works like a charm!

  • Hi guys,
  • Thanks for looking in appreciate your help. I think you are right Brad; I have always used the insert mountain image to post pictures and spent a good part of the weekend using various hosting sites to no avail. My 17 year old son asked why I didn’t  put the code where I was typing. Now we all know that doesn’t work but I did it anyway nothing to lose and it worked picture appeared I was able to upload to ships and a group build. So glad to be back again. Typed and copied from notes as my first draft disappeared from here just as I was about to submi. Thanks again.
