Nice to meet you all!!
Posted by Masahiko on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 9:27 PM

My hometown is Okinawa, Japan, and I have lived in Shizuoka, Japan. I have joined modeler's club exhibition in Shizuoka hobby show for 15 years. Since I came back to home town, I have done for building sample finished model for Platz, and I show my work for Japanese scale model magazine, Auto Modeling.

I also lived in Austin, Texas between 1999 to 2001. I had joined local scale model club in there, and joined to some shows.

I mainly build car models, but I also build other category sometime.

Hi Masahiko! Welcome to the Forums. Glad to have you with us.

My favorite builds are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships but I build other models too. I also go to shows to meet other modelers and learn from them.

Welcome!

I look forward to seeing your work :)

I'm primarily into WWII Tanks and ships and 3D printing but a beautifully executed model of any subject is a treat for the eyes and often inspiring.

Masahiko-San, yokoso!  Big Smile

Please share photos of your builds!  What is it like building sample models for the kit makers?

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Splatterman you lucky devil!  I can only dream of fully stocked paint racks and building supplies everywhere I go.

I have to admit it does spoil you. I didn't really realize it until I started searching the net for tutorials and noticing the number of videos with someone saying "if you can get it" or "it's good but expensive" for things that are everywhere here.

A friend has relatives in Yokohama, and prior to the pandemic, used to travel there often.  He is also a Shizuoka Hobby Show veteran, and was going to give us the full tour back in 2020.  We had our airfare, hotel, and rail pass all paid for when the curtains came down in March of that year.  Crying

Regarding hard to get items - God Hand cutters.  The last time I was there (2016), Tokyo had ZIP.  I could only find ONE, at the Volks shop at Lalaport in Funabashi!  Dang, that is one gigantic shopping center.  Indifferent  Fortunately, the manufacturer seems to have ramped up production, so they can be more readily found on-line.
