About modelcrazy

I am a 14 year Coast Guard veteran with an honorable discharge in 1997 as an E6 Electronic Technician. I enjoy ships, both plastic and wood, aircraft of all kinds all eras, armor, Science fiction, cars, just about anything that can be modeled. Pretty much, if it can be modeled, I would or will try to build it. Years ago I also scratch built and flew .40 - .90 size radio control airplanes although I neither have the space or money for that anymore.
Like many others it seems, I left the hobby for 15 years because of being aboard ship, remodeling and various other reasons and returned to it in 2014 and found much had changed.
Currently I have two daughters and 4 grandchildren (one more on the way) and am back to being an electronic technician after several other job lines.
I have a hereditary disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis which causes my lungs to scar and thus they do not transfer oxygen as effectively as normal lungs do. I will eventually get bad enough to require a double lung transplant but at the moment I use supplementary oxygen during exertion.

I enjoy life and still workout while using oxygen to keep the rest of my body healthy should the time of a transplant arrive.
