This is a first for me! Every now and then I've checked in to see what everyone was talking about. But the subject of modeling "inspired" me to jump in. I've been building models -aircraft mainly- off and on for forty years. I got my first model one Christmas when I was five years old... It was a 1/48th scale X-15 -Aurora- , I think. All I remember was I had a heck of a time getting getting those little windows in. I did it though, of course you could'nt see through the fingerprints and tub glue mushed all over them...
But, I've been building models ever since (except the late teen years, cars, girls and part time jobs got in the way). I actually started putting my heart into my projects about fifteen years ago. Anything in 1/48th American military aircraft WW I to present, fixed wing or rotor; if it represents something that flys, I'm interested.
I did give in and got some German and Soviet stuff, no British or Japanese though; not yet anyway...
Oh yeah, I did build a wooden tall ship a couple of years ago; had to sew the sails, string the rigging and all. It took me ten months to complete. I will never do that again. It turned out nice, but it about drove me nuts!
