                        I'm 14 years old and i'm in the middle of building my first model, the academy M3 Stuart honey, i was wondering if anyone has any tips or knows any good guides about weathering, i dont have an airbrush (yet) so anything that needs one i cant do. I can already see how my model is going to turn out (it's the american version from Fort Knox so its pretty much one color) and it will probably be boring. Also i have heard the tems, filters and washes, can anyone explain what they are? thanks in advance

                        Search the forum and the tips you seek shall appear. I don't know what a filter is either but a wash is really thinned paint. It's like colored water. It runs into depression and folds and make fine things more noticable.

                        Welcome Manik. Nice to see another young modeler joining up. I just finished up that exact kit last week. There are some good reference pics at RonUSMC's gallery that some one sent me. Head over to the armor forum and you can find out everything you want to know. I had some recent posts there asking about the Stuart and got some very helpful advice.

                        Hey, ManiK_Impressive! Welcome to the forums! You know, you'll be surprised what you can do without an airbrush... and models are NEVER boring!!! Man, i remember my first few kits... lots quite a few parts in the cab home because i couldn't wait to open it! Wink [;)] Be creative too (don't let lack of an airbrush stop you)! lots of guys/girs in this forum use the most unlikely tools and techniques... LIke electric toothbrushes... I'm still waiting to try that one out! Post a pic when your stuart is done! we all like to see each other's creations. Big Smile [:D]

                        Young blood, Nothing in modeling is boring my young friend, (Its more a learning curve).
                        Brush painting on a Stuart is fine just remember lots of thin coats, try to brush in one direction, and let the paint dry thoroughly between cotes.
                        If you are one of those "impetuous youth,s I,ve heard of who dosen,t like to wait to long I suggest well thinned Tamiya acrylic (It dries almost instantly).
                        I,ll try and find u some info on filters "sit tight and check out this site for now, its really good).

                        Ps late war British Shermans & Stuarts sometimes had black camo painted over the Olive drab, (if u wanted to try something not just green).
