Hi,
The (real) name's Martyn. The Phantom is a name I use on several other boards, and it hurts my brain less if I only have to remember one username.
I'm not trying to be mysterious.
I started model-making when I was 8 or 9 though I've had a long break from it.
In recent years I
have been painting those little white metal gaming figures occasionally (the Games Workshop WH40K ones, not because I play the games but because I'm quite into sci-fi and I like a lot of the GW designs. I also liked the slightly 'cartoony' or 'comic book' painting style they use in their monthly mag - I'm an animator by trade)
So I would say figure painting is my thing. I've been buying Finescale Modeller mag for about six years, and thankfully it's a lot more readily available now than it was then (I'm in the UK BTW) although I haven't made any kits for years - just painted the odd tiny figure now & then.
Other hobbies include movies (even though I work in the business), computer games (on PC and PS2), sci-fi (which I already mentioned, and which spans the other two interests).
.... oh and I have a small (so far) collection of Dragon's 12" Action Figures.
Recently, though, I've been helping my six-year old nephew build and paint his first kits and the bug has bitten me again. At the weekend I went to my local model store and purchased a set of Dragon 1/35 Volksturm figures and an Italeri ruined church window with the intention of building a diorama.
Wish me luck!
