Return to the hobby
Posted by snakedriver on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 11:35 AM
After a six or seven year semi-retirement from kit building, Ive gotten back into the hobby. I bought books and kits from time to time, but left the show circuit and built nothing. Early last year I had the privilege of meeting a young man who was researching his first manuscript and eventually got involved in providing photos and contacts to assist him.
The book, part of the Osprey Combat Aircraft series, was published in September '03. Participation in the project got the creative juices flowing again and I dusted off a few mothballed projects and have been reintroduced to the theraputic value of plastic and resin. A lot has changed in the past few years and I find myself marveling at the techniques demonstrated in the photos I see posted on various websites.
At the present time I am working on a series of various marks of the AH-1 Cobra. My primary interest is in 1960-1990 U.S. and former Soviet Block aircraft.
