Been away !/Georgia on my mind
Home from a 1 1/2 month gig in Atlanta. Giving a face lift to "Six Flags" dark ride "Monster mansion", formerly "Monster plantation"-"Tales of the Okiefenokee". A ground up overhaul, new animation, new characters, new effects. As chief sculptor/fabrictor I was quite busy preparing the two new characters to install(designed by cartoonist Phil Mendez whom designed all other creatures & aesthetics of the original.)as well as fabbing props, such as firemans helmet from flower arranging foam & a discarded billboard made of "gatorboard", An expanded vinyl sheet plastic. I put my near virgin Paasche VL through a 24 hour painting grind, which it bore without fuss. I even handled a few chores for the animatronic team albeit nothing too technical. Conditions on site were tough though not appalling, aggrivated by fickle Ga. weather, by day 3 I'd seen downpours, sunny& warm, snow and tornado warnings. Georgia was breathtaking, it's people warm and friendly, her history...Well, "Sons of the confederacy" honour heroes fallen nearly 150 years. Makes one think!. Excepting the withering humidity Georgia was wonderful short term home, hope to return. any Ga. modelers who have ridden "Monster plantation" please reply I'd love to hear your imppression of it then & now.
The devil is in the details...and somtimes he's in my sock drawer. On the bench.
