G'day all,
Just recently joined the site, this is one way cool place!!
Well, I have recently left the Australian Army after some serious injuries. Medical discharge
!! Spent 10 years in as an SF Medic. So Now Im unemployed I have lots of time to build
I started as a "Plastaholic" at a young age about 5-6 with some 144 scale A/C, moved on to cars after a freind of the family gave me a large box (4ftx2ft about 2ft deep) Full of half built or trashed car's, truck's and motorcycles. I learnt from that how to kit bash and scratchbuild to get what I wanted! Moved from that into car kits (1/24-25) Im a 3rd generation Hot rod builder (1:1 scale) so thats where my scale intrests lay in cars.
I have always liked WW2 era A/C so started to put some together for fun. I joined Air Cadets at this time and met a kindered soul who became my brother in law!! He taught me the wonders of detail in A/C!! Built a lot of them, tryed a lot some things didnt work!!
Joind the local air museum (Morrabin) so I could collect detail reference, mainly the Mk 21 Beaufighter. I have a love of WW2 Aussie aircraft!
Joined the Army and lost 15 years of kits and work in a house fire [ :(] So I started again, current projects at hand (That may be of interest) 1/32 Aston Martain DB5 using Airfix body, scratchbuilt tube chassies/roll cage V8 and tyres from a NASCAR scratched suspension. Chopped 49 Merc, Harley Springer (IMAI (?) kit) brass frame scratched wheels suspension, springer type.
Have about 21 car projects on the go, most hotrod Fords! including replicas of my 1:1 1938 club coupe and 1929 A model Roadster pickup.
Aircraft I only have one ambitious project going at the moment, a completely scratchbuilt DAP Mk21 Beaufighter in 1/24 scale (what a headache, isnt this hobby ment to be fun??
)
Christ what a novel!! Im not usual this long winded its just that............ blah blah blah.......................jibber.................................. er..................
