Checkin' In!
Posted by EvilFD on Thursday, December 31, 2009 4:59 PM

Hey all,

Just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself.  Name is Cody, im 25 years old.  I live in the Denver metro area area where i work construction and go to school (military history major Cool ) I'm also ex-military. I study, read, and watch absolutely everything that pertains to military history. Ancient all the way up to the modern military I'm so familiar with......  Was an airborne infantry grunt in the Army where I got to enjoy beautiful Iraq and Afghanistan Devil Served with 3rd BDE 3rd ID out of Ft. Benning, GA. and the 173rd AB out of Vincenza, Italy.

Modeling wise I build mostly 1/48 scale WWII aircraft. Although I've dabbled in shipping and other scale aircraft. Interested in trying armor and figurines/dioramas in the future!   My current goal is to build all the major aircraft from the major participants in WWII. Over the years I've built:

United States

P-51 (both the "D" and "B" models)

P-61C

P-47D

B-17G

B-24

F4U Corsair: Done in French Navy markings though :(

RAF (haven't done much with the Brits yet)

Hurricane MIII

Spitfire MKV

Germany (Luftwaffe aircraft are what I've been working on exclusively since I got outta the Army a couple years ago)

HE111

JU-88 (night fighter version-Also my current project 85% complete)

FW-190A

ME-262 (bomber version, i figured id built it as a testament to Hitler's overwhelming intelligence to use the new jet as a fast-attack bomber instead of an air superiority/ fighter/ interceptor aircraft. Confused )

ME-109 (both the "E" and "G" models)

Thats basically it for the models I currently have. I've built absolute tons of other models over the years but those are the few that I've built since I've been older and more experienced (aka those are the models with accurate paint schemes, without fingerprints, blurry cockpits, glue-soaked seams, and brush-applied paint in globs Embarrassed )

Anyways, great to meet you all!

Cody

Yeah, my love of history is definately the reason I got into models, it also probably a big reason I was in the military.  I planned on making a career out of the Army but I did 3 deployments in about 55-56 months.  I loved the Army, just exhausted me. I was either IN the middle-east or doing a hardcore train-up in preparation for going to the middle-east.

On a side-note, why is this a duplicate post of my original?
