Hello to All
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 19, 2004 2:23 PM
Hello folks,

I am a husband and father of two, and I reside in Knoxville, Tennessee.

I used to assemble and paint German tanks, trucks, etc. as I child. I am looking to get back into the hobby. I just purchased a few kits from eBay. Some of the very same kits that I had assembled way back when. Now, I just need to decide on the perfect airbrush…

My other interests include collecting WWII German military items. I primarily collect Iron Cross, German Crosses and helmets.

I have learned a great deal from just browsing the forums in the last two weeks or so. I look forward to learning even more. And to producing some killer German AFVs.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Calvin

I have a 1953 BMB British paratroopers helmet, an SAS beret w badge, ammo boxes, shoulder patches, that's about it.

Welcome to the forums, Calvin!

That is quite an impressive collection you have there. I have always wanted an Iron Cross to go with my German Armor collection but, all I have found are pre-WW2 and post-WW2.

Where is a good place to start looking? I have had no luck at eBay Sad [:(]

Erokc68,

I would be glad to help you locate a nice 1939 Iron Cross to display with your German armor. Email me at rolling_coyote@yahoo.com and I can help you out.

A good place to start is the Wehrmacht Awards website. I know alot of the folks there, and I am a regular participant on that site's forum. Try this link wehrmacht-awards.com to learn about the various combat awards and decorations of the Third Reich.

Ebay is not really a great place to look, but occassionally some good stuff does pop up there. Lots of fakes being sold as original wartime manufacture on eBay.Sad [:(]

Welcome to the forums, Calvin! I think i could get into collecting militaria like that... I actually want to own an M1 garand so i can hear the distinctive "ping" for myself . Wink [;)] The problem is that modeling and collecting zippos bleeds all my savings dry, so i have nothing to start yet another collection! Smile [:)]
