Back in the Hobby
Posted by Sawdustbob on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 8:28 AM

Hello,

My name is Bob and I am from Western PA.  I am a long time wood worker, and have built RC airplanes / boats.  I built a lot of plastic models in high school and in the Navy but stopped when I got married. (Too much other stuff going on with raising kids and such)   I recently retired and needed something to do that kept my hands and mind busy but didn't require me to stand for long periods.  My wife sugested plastic models and bought me a Dragon UH-1D in 1/35 since I rode one when I was a Navy Corpsman.  I'm having a blast and wish I had started doing this years ago.  I look forward to a lot of fun for many years.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.  I'm going to get my son to help me set up a web site so I can post in progress pics of my builds.  I hope that doesn't sound too arrogant. Smile

Not at all, always fun to show your final products to others who are interested, especially on this hobby. 95% of the people who see my completed builds are family & friends who don't realllly get it. Looking forward to seeing what you are up to.

Welcome back!  I hope you enjoy your stay.  Make it a point to milk all these fine gentelemen (and lady here and there) for all their knowledge.  They are a good bunch.

I have to ask.... You wife didn't happen to pay $229 for that kit, did she?  [inside joke]

I read part of the $229 thread.  She did buy me paints, airbrush, regulator, tools, glues and a lot of other stuff that totaled up to almost $229.  After 30 years I still can't believe how lucky I am.
