Hello!
Posted by La Porta on Sunday, April 10, 2011 3:44 PM
Hi everyone, My name is John-Robert La Porta. I'm 27 years old, been working on models since I was about 9. My Dad first got me involved with a small, simple model that involved a tank and a plane of some kind, and he built it with me. From there on, I just kept trying to make things the best I could. I am still fairly a novice with my airbrush, but I am trying more new things now than I ever had before. I joined up here with the hope that i can get some feedback on my progress, as well as some tips and other help. I'll get pictures of some of the most recent things I have done as soon as I can -John

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I do appreciate it. Since I got back to visit my parents this weekend, I got a chance to take some pictures of my latest model (it was a gift to my Dad). It was a replica of a 1972 Camaro that he had when he was about my age now. I will get photos of him with the car to compare to it when I return home. I think one of the most challenging things about the model was having to chop off the entire front end about 1/2 an inch from the nose and replace it with a resin aftermarket part, since his car was different than the kit. I will get pictures of this too. I made this with no knowledge of sanding, buffing "futuring" models, etc, though I now hope to try all of that now that I know of it! I think the thing I like the least is the front bumper, which is my first attempt to use metal foil. Please, all comments, questions, and critiques are wanted.

Looks very nice, you did a good job, better then what I have been able to accomplish on car kits.

Also, welcome.  If you have any questions, please ask.

Ill leave you with a tip I learned myself.  The more you branch out, trying OTHER model types, armor, airplanes, scifi, figures, the more tips and trick you will learn for the models you really enjoy most and they will improve your work 100 fold
