Hello to all.  I have joind this site as a recomendation from another fourm site member.  I am a major Hornet junkie, mostly do to my days as a Marine.  I work primarily in the 1:48 scale medium.  I am trying to get better each kit.  I am currantly getting geared up for a F-18D with a afterburner set of decals.  I think I have found a good way to use the putties to fill the small seems.  What I am looking for is any suggestions on masking and how to get the mold seem out of the canopy so that it looks real.   Thanks for the welcome and I am looking forward to any suggestions you guys might have.  Thanks

Jason the hornet Junkie

Welcome! Welcome Sign  I myself am about to dive into modern navy birds with an F-18E being the first on my list.  I'll leave the recommendations for the things you said above to the other guys (there's alot of them!) since I'm not good at explaining.

Anyways, welcome again and I look forward to seeing your work

-Matt

Welcome aboard Jason! Removing seams from the canopy. I've seen articles but never had to do it, but lightly sanding it out with progressively finer grades of sanding film, followed up wit a coat of Future seems to work for others. As for masking, uhh, do it! What are you needing to mask?

Welcome ! Smile

as to your question.. the progressive sanding, followed by Future should do the trick.. some use those finger nail polishing sticks ( ask the wife ??  ) Whistling
