1/72nd Helicopters.
Posted by Snakecopter on Thursday, April 21, 2011 1:48 PM

Hello kit makers everywhere.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is SNAKE.

I live in a village which is named SOUTH PETHERTON.

Which is in the county of SOMERSETSHIRE.

In a country named GREAT BRITAIN or UNITED KINGDOM.

My hobbies are making kits,

I am a BIKER (yes long haired).

My taste in music is HEAVY METAL,

I am a fanatical fan of the one and only true rock god  ALICE COOPER.

My prefered scale is 1/72 scale plastic helicopters.

All of my helicopters depict the ones used by Great Britains armed forces.

Them being.

Royal Air Force.

Royal Navy.

Army.

Royal Marines.

To give you an idea of what  helicopters i model i will name them.

Skeeter,

Sycamore,

Wasp,

 Dragonfly,

Belverdere,

Whirlwind,

Wessex,

Gazelle,

Lynx, ,

Merlin,

Puma,

Sea King ,

and you will know this one

Chinook.

I can model also what variants they were at the time or still are.

The Chinook which was drafted in as our Belverdere although she was a useful helicopter over the years  was phased as she could not be used to the maximum affect so the Chinook was brought in as a stop gap until another helicopter was built  but that never happened so the Chinook has stayed.

I also enjoy Science Fiction models that EAGLE was awesome a word i do not banter about a lot only when the subject deserves it.

I also i like horror movies

I do sometimes do kit bashing and recently out of my head with no plans or any other thoughts like measurements or what colour she will be just put this creation together and the final result is this space battleship.

I hope i can download the images of her for you to see and also the collection so far of my helicopter fleet.

So there you are thats me.

And i would just like to add that i do enjoy what i see and read in the mag very interesting..

So i will say a big thank you to you all for taking the time to read this thread and i hope over the coming period of time have some interesting threads with this band of MOTLEY CRUE no i have not spelt CRUE wrong it that  is a name of one of your heavy metal bands from the good old  U . S . A . and they spell CREW (CRUE) that are kit makers.

Kind regards from.

SNAKE .

Welcome to the forums, Snake. I'm also a biker ( '05 Harley Heritage Softail)  and a metal fan....one of my all time favorite bands is Iron Maiden.

There's a ton of great stuff going on here....some fun, some informative, some goofy. Good folks here.

Hello Stage Left.

As one fellow biker to another greetings used to ride TRIUMPH BONNY 650cc alas no more serious accident from idiot in cage.

Saying us bikers this side of the pond use for four wheel vehicles users.

Still got all my parts but inner right thigh damaged (broken pelvis never will heal properly broken thigh healed so so bone growth cannot be operated on must use crutches for walking outside like this till i die.

So stage Left your IRON MAIDEN fan have you seen them  i have down a place in Great Britain called St Austell down on the coast the stage effect used mid -way through the concert depicted  opening hands each side of the stage and the fist finger to fully blow up was the one finger salute we bikers give to creetings who do not understand us or what we believe in.

Right now thats done lets thread what this forums about modeling

What  do you make(or should i guess you make bikes) mainly or are there other  thigs that grab you attention.

As i said i make Helicopters mainly but i do wander outside like at the moment i am making a ROAD TRAIN tractor, trailer, trailer the colours for the tractor and trailers are of my own chose and i would like to think that it is my very own rig and that i travel the world in her delivering stuff to the far flung corners of this planet

I also dabble in science fiction or whatever takes my fancy.

So now you know what i am and what i make the ball is in yor court now what do you like to make in this great world of the modeler.

Hi Snake,

Very sorry to hear about the 'idiot in a cage' permanently changing your life. We have a saying here in the States: a biker has either been down or is going down. I fall into the latter category, but I'm fully aware of the risks and am still enjoying every minute. I'm proud to be included in this group, but I'm not a 'Harley snob.' I bet your Triumph was an excellent ride.

Ah....Maiden. Saw them in '88, '01, and '08. Couldn't have enjoyed each show any more, but was really losing my mind in '08 when they played all the '80s hits.....I didn't see the Powerslave tour in '85.

Yes, back on topic. I primarily build 1/72 aircraft and 1/35 armor (for me this is pretty much across the board), but I will build whatever catches my fancy and my stash bears that out. I've got some AMT tractor/trailer kits (kudos to you on the Road Train build! Are you using the Italeri 1/24 Western Star? I've seen the kit and it's very impressive), some NASCAR, American dragsters, Tamiya Formula 1, a few Star Wars/Star Trek as well as NASA launch vehicles/capsules, a few ships and a submarine.

Of course I have some helicopters, among them a Hasegawa 1/72 Mi-24 Hind-D and a Pavla (Czech Republic) 1/72 Bell model 47 (made famous in the Korean War). That model 47 has a ton of photo-etch...should be a lot of fun! But one of my all-time favorites is the old Monogram 1/48 Huey Hog. Goes together well, and with the decals for the U.S. Marines it totally looks the part of a no-nonsense warrior.

So that's the basics. I love putting glue and paint to plastic, being around it and talking about it. Glad to have made your acquaintance and I'm looking forward to pics of your builds!

Oh....I almost forgot. You'd think I'd have several bike kits, but I only have one: the Testors/Italeri 1/35 WWII Harley WLA Military Police kit....it comes with two bikes. Nice looking little deal....one of the many I'll get to one of these days.

Hi! Friend.

Well i read that you have seen Iron Maiden a few times.Like me I have seen ALICE COOPER quite a bit took the WIFE to one of his gigs only to witness that night to see ALICE almost being HANGED for REAL the safety rope broke on the noose he was lead of stage by some of the zombies dressed in black bin liners but as the TROOPER he is (no pun intended IRON MAIDEN track of which you are familiar with ) by the way have you got all of I M 's music and do you collect stuff about them like i have done with ALICE ie: cd's dvd's and so forth. But to continue he came back but he needed help so pointing the mike at us we sang SCHOOL'S OUT along with him, what a night to remember to see my hero almost DIE in front of my eyes thank HELL that did not happen HELL thats where i am of to when i die me and LUCIFER are old friends.

Just  a question do have you any BLUE OYSTER CULT in your collection i have all their CDs DVDs AWESOME band.

Right now for the model bit you asked if my ROAD TRAIN is a WESTERN STAR rig the answer to that is NO it is in 1/24th scale but i am custom building a FORD LOUISVILLE delivery truck the cab and chassis is the LOUISVILLE with a added sleeper part and a EFFER self loading crane the body part of the truck is now the first trailer the other trailer is was ALICE'S favourite BEER at the time a BUDWEISER 40 footer but i have added higher panels all round from another 40 footer trailer

As  the first trailer needs suspension and other bits and bobs i have purchased from e-bay.com mainly from your neck of the woods U. S .A .for the other parts that i needed i used EVERGREEN materials this time from my neck of the woods G.B also parts from my endless spares tin the RT is slowly taken shape hope to download rig on line and i hope in the mag if FSM deem it is worthy quote from WAYNES WORLD bowing down to ALICE.

Soon to be seen is a SEA KING COMMANDO MK4 in 1/72nd scale i have down loaded and i have also finished and for future views will be a OSHKOSH in a take on the MAD MAX movies i called her WARRIOR you will notice the name on the front and to follow that with my love of science fiction i have thrown together parts from odds and ends using a SIKORSKY SKY CRANE you will now this one VIETNAM era wih POD but how i have built her is way of beam it it is nothing like it was originaly built for and it has been painted and battle damaged.

I am glad you mentioned FORMULA ONE as i am a LIFE member of a team which sadly no longer rules the tracks LOTUS.  COLIN ANTHONY BRUCE CHAPMAN  LOTUS. not these idiots now that go under the name LOTUS the real team ended in 1994.

Interesting fact for you me old mate when COLIN INVENTED the now at long last recognized car that changed grad prix for ever the LOTUS 79 she was also known as BLACK BEAUTY  COLIN took her to the MONACO grand prix but being canny man he was he only gave her a test only later to UNLEASH her on the grad prix world of which MARIO ANDRETTI and RONNIE PETERSON to dominate until much later for the other lot to catch up.

But what really broke COLIN's heart was for the LOTUS 88 twin chassis to be banned by those creetins  wheo govern the sport COLIN continued to push the barriers until he died in 1984 he was born in 1948 there is a name used when you die on the same date but inreverse cannot not think what it is called but that is spooky.

I have got her in my collection i also wear the JOHN PLAYER TEAM LOTUS badge and the JPS with LAUREL LEAF design badge with PRIDE on my jacket for all to see.

So you see STAGE LEFT you and me who have only just started threading to each other have a lot in common.

May i call you STAGE as you call me SNAKE makes it more personal

And just to finish i have a stash and it is all helicopters as for put them in with the rest when made is going to be fun
