Thanks Tom!  Appreciate the breakdown of topics.  Good word, "fussbuttism", with or without your permission I will be using that as my own!

I will not sphroxify gullible people into looking up nonexistent words in the dictionary. Hey, this is the Internet! What you seize is what you get! Welcome!

Welcome Techmo

Glad to have you with us.

As far as an inexpensive somewhat accurate MODU.....  I would suppose it all depends on the scale you wish to replicate [in].

In any event it sounds like a trip to the Plastruct site is in order ( http://www.plastruct.com/ )

Enjoy the ride!

New to the forum, not a modeler myself anymore but fascinated by the hobby and the incredible models you produce.  I enjoy looking at all the cool stuff!  I work in the oil business and am interested in models of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU's).

Something I am curious about is how one might go about creating inexpensive yet somewhat accurate models of MODU's.  Perhaps this is a topic for the General Discussion board?  Look forward to your comments.

Regards, Techmo!

Welcome to the madhouse.

It sounds like you have got the basics of a fair several of topics: (1) industrial subject models, (2) costs, (3) accuracy, and (4) sanity to name just a few.

Personally, I love seeing stuff that is off the beaten path of armor/aircraft/warships/cars. And of course, we are all retired millionaires with a penchant for fussbuttism, sanity optional.

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

Welcome to the forums...be careful, if you lurk long enough you will want to build something then the sickness of buying and building will be upon you full force.
