hi everyone just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to you all, my name is simon and i live in swindon in england im 37 and im new to plastic kit building.
well, i say new i did make a few kits when i was under 16 like you do growing up but most of the glue back then ended up being stuck to the outside of the model or to my hands or my hands stuck to the kit !!!
ive taken up the hobby again after a pretty serious motorcycle accident which has left me with a lot more time on my hands now to enjoy life and get a hobby doing something that intrests me, i like ww2 armour mostly the german stuff in 135th scale, ive just started the dragon railway gondola typ ommr w/aa gun crew. im hoping to get the trumpeter br52 ? next to go with this and a few more 135th scale railway kits. well anyways thats me introducing myself... id anyone else has built the dragon kit post us a reply as would love to know more about the kit and have someone to ask questions to as i go along....

Welcome back magicstick! I went way for awhile too, then came back to it after an ankle injury had me sitting still for an extended period - idle hands right!

Welcome Simon...your story is a very common one, lots of folks get back into the hobby after an injury. You will enjoy your time here lots of good folks willing to help with your skills or mood with a good chuckle.

Welcome aboard and back into the hobby. Think there a lot of guys here who have come back into the hobby. My break from it was rather short, only 5 years, but the break was not through choice.
Sure you will find this a very interesting place, full of all sorts of characters, all very friendly and helpful, even if a bit odd at times. And ye, we like lots of pics.

thanks everyone for making me feel welcome, didnt know quite what to expect when i wrote the post. everyone seems to be happy and very friendly which as a new person is quite encouraging !!
im building the dragon kit in 135th of the german railway gondola typ ommr w/aa gun crew. i usally paint with tamiya acrylics only and im a bit stuck as the colour chart listed on the instructions are for gunze sangyo mr.colour ? anyboby any idea of the nearest matches for tamiya colours ? the paint numbers listed are as follows 1546 silver. 1749 flat black. 1415 steel. 1735 wood brown. 1516 flesh. 1764 field grey 2. 1591 rlm grey 02. 1742 middlestone. obviously i can workout the basic colours like flesh, flat black, silver but the others im not sure off especially the wood colour and a colour for steel ? any help guys would be appreciated

Ok, from memory. Flat black XF-2, silver X-11 (i think), flesh, XF-15, Field grey, XF-65, RLM 02 XF-22. They don't do a steel, just the silver and an Aluminium, XF-16.
