I would say that your best bet is to get a coat of white down before the clear yellow. White in itself can require quite a few coats to get a even & convincing finish - this can often be eased by putting down a layer of light silver before the white. Obviously using silver, then white & then yellow seems like overkill, but it will reduce the overall number of coats that you will need.

Welcome, Vincent !

I enjoy your movies..Big Smile

I regret I have not yet used the Vallejo brand of paints but hope my reply will keep this thread current until someone can give useful advice.

Bon Chance !

Welcome to the forums! In my experiance the clear paints will only tint your underlying color unless you put many layers of it on. Why not get some yellow and thin it back a bunch and spray that.

Vallejo Model Air issue !
Posted by Vincent Price on Thursday, September 22, 2011 10:37 AM

Hello,

I am building Italaeri's old Hs 123 kit in the camouflage colors as used by the Luftwaffe in Yugoslavia. According to the painting instructions the cowling, underneath wingtips and tail should be clear yellow. So after priming the entire airplane with Vallejo German Field Grey, I started airbrushing the Vallejo Model Air Clear Yellow on the above mentionned parts using an Aztek Airbrush,  but the base color keeps coming through. After letting the first coat dry I decided to put on another coat, and another but still the basecoat keeps showing. Is there any way to thicken the yellow Vallejo Model Air paint ? I used Vallejo Model Air for the sky blue belly color of my Henschel without a problem. Perhaps I just need to get the straight Vallejo Model Color Clear Yellow paint and thin it down manually....?
