Moderate Modeler Back in Business! (from Montreal)
Posted by Darkowski74 on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 9:15 AM

Hello everyone!

I'm a casual modeler. I always loved to assemble things. I built my first model when I was about 10 years old.

I started with WW2 planes, then switched to modern cars, then to Sci-Fi (Star Trek and a bit of Star Wars).

At one point I had the desire to try building some military WW2 armor, because I wanted to try all the painting techniques I read about and I loved all the paint jobs on different pictures I saw. Hence,  I built my first 4 tank kits about 10 years ago and now I came back to build some more - hopefully my first diorama.
Here are the 4 tanks I've built 10 years ago:

I love building military vehicles, because it demands a wider artistic point of view and talent IMO. You don't just paint it one basic color and voila. There is damage, wear, and weathering to be done in order for the model to be realistic and in scale.

I just bought an Italeri German PzKpfw 38(t) Ausf.E/F, a German Artillery set from Italeri, and a German Machine Gun Troops Infantry from Tamiya. I also got Brick Walls from Italeri for an eventual diorama.

Being relatively new to armor modeling, I'd appreciate any pointers where to find reference material and paint colors for details.

Also, is anyone from the Montreal area? If so, I was wondering where you shop for supplies and model kits. I usually go to Udisco. They have a tone of supplies and models, but not what you actually need it seems Confused...... And their site is out of date for years....

Thank you in advance!

Welcome aboard Darek. I have seen some others from Quebec, not sure if they were in the Montreal area or not though - if you click on the "more" button on your original post, you can edit the title to include "Montreal", it may catch the eye of those who are closer. Talk to you later,
